After a string of ordinary performances, Luis Enrique’s Barcelona have finally managed to move to the top of the points table in the La Liga, with a thumping victory over Alaves this weekend. Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid, have played 3 games less than the Camp Nou outfit at the moment in the domestic season but this victory is sure to pile on the pressure on the Champions of Europe. Alaves started the game in decent fashion, making it hard for Barcelona to create chances, but at the half hour mark, Luis Suarez popped up with a goal which opened the floodgates. Neymar Jr doubled the lead not long later while Lionel Messi and Ivan Rakitic were also on the board. Here are the player ratings for the Barcelona player for this game:

Marc-Andre Ter Stegen (7):

Comfortable with the ball at his feet, Ter Stegen had a comfortable night as he made just one good save of note on the night.

Aleix Vidal (7):

Put in a super performance, picking up an assist for the first goal and also did well to keep Alaves away from danger.

Jeremy Mathieu (6):

Stared the game nervously but grew into it slowly to help Barcelona put on a commanding performance.

Samuel Umtiti (6):

Was troubled constantly in the first half-hour of the game but he grew into it and helped his side to a simple victory in the end.

Lucas Digne (6):

Caught out of position at the back a couple of times but was generally assured against a toothless Alaves attack.

Sergio Busquets (6):

Super with his passing and distribution from the back, Busquets, was a thorn in the midfield for the hosts on the night.

Andre Gomes (7):

Came close to scoring on a couple of occasions and also created a number of chances for his side on a productive night for the midfielder.

Ivan Rakitic (7):

Was involved in the buildup to the first goal and created a number of clear chances before finding the back of the net in the second half.

Lionel Messi (8):

Played a role in almost every goal for Barcelona, before finding the back of the net himself in a game which he started a bit off-color.

Luis Suarez (9):

Opened the scoring on the night and created a couple of more goals for Barcelona as he put in a man of the match performance to give his side all three points from this game.

Neymar Jr (6):

Had a poor first half and though he grew into the game, he was unable to influence Barcelona’s play like he usually does on the night.

Subs:

Jordi Alba (6):

Came in with 20 minutes to play and did not have enough time to have an impact.

Andre Iniesta (7):

Came into the midfield and put in a super show, piling on the pressure on the hosts in the dying stages of the game.

Sergio Roberto (6)
