Premier League looked to be headed to a forgone conclusion as Chelsea had a 7 points lead over Manchester City and did not look like slipping away. Chelsea were playing Burnley before Man City’s tricky kick off against Newcastle. Chelsea looked certain to stretch the lead at the top to 10 points.

It is truly said, Football is game of uncertainties even more so when it is the English Premier League. Chelsea were held by the 18th ranked team in the league Burnley, while the champions coasted to a five star victory to cut the gap at the top to 5 points.

We talk a look at the key points in the title race which is shaping to be one of the best in recent years.

Title Race is well and truly alive

Make no mistake about it, it isn’t over till it’s over. Manchester City have pulled themselves back in to the title race against Chelsea this season. Manchester City have previously chased down a 9 point gap against Manchester United so City have the experience in their ranks to chase the lead against Chelsea as well.

Now the gap has been cut down to 5 and with Yaya Toure and Wilfried Bony available for selection, Manchester City look a greater threat than in January where they were dropping points for fun. Watch put Chelsea, this league is far away from being decided.

Is there really a CAMPAIGN against Chelsea?

Jose Mourinho highlighted 4 points (on 30, 33, 43 & 69 minute mark) in his post-match interview and claimed these for incidents caused Chelsea the win against Burnley. Jose has been talking up his CAMPAIGN claims ever since Diego Costa was banned for 3 match after the Capital One Cup semi-final against Liverpool.

Nobody quite found the merit in his claims till the Burnley match where the world saw how ref had an awful game and did not allow Chelsea two clear penalties and a blatant foul on Ivanovic. Mourinho’s views were shared by the world as people like Alan Shaerer claimed how the ref had an awful game.

So the questions begs to be asked, is there really a CAMPAIGN against Jose Mourinho and Chelsea or the Mourinho has invited all of this by talking up his conspiracy theory again and again?

Manchester City have a better goal-scoring side

Chelsea’s reliance on Diego Costa to get the goals could be a worry for Jose Mourinho as they approach the last 12 games in the league. Apart from Costa it has been Branislav Ivanovic who has come up with goals against the Blues.

Manchester City have 14 different scorers this season while Chelsea have 12. Manchester City have more players scoring from the mid-field whereas Chelsea have John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic getting a lion share of the goals apart from their strikers and Eden Hazard.

Manchester City have David Silva, Yaya Toure, Samir Nasri, Frank Lampard, James Milner & Edin Dzeko apart from Sergio Aguero who can score at any time of the game and win the game for Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

All said and done, it promises to be a great finish for the Premier League glory and one thing is for sure, no team would want to give an inch to the other. Chelsea do have the edge of 5 points at the moment but Manchester City are hot on their heels and desperate to close the gap.
