Chelsea are set for a very tough summer and an even tougher season up ahead as they are set to lose the backbone of their team this summer.
With the lack of Champions League football next season, the likes of Hazard and Costa are linked with a move away from the club but the biggest blow for the club will be the end of the John Terry era.
The England and Chelsea skipper revealed that he will leave the club this summer leaving the Blues without a true leader for the on the field for next season.
His contract is set to expire at the end of the season and it looks highly unlikely that he will be offered a new deal at the club.
This has seen a number of players from the club open up about their captain.
Star winger Eden Hazard said in a recent interview that Terry, who wore only one club shirt his entire career will leave the club as a legend if he decides to move on.
Hazard told Chelsea TV: “JT is a legend for the club, all the players and the staff really, really respect him.
“I don’t know about his contract, but if he leaves he will leave like a legend.”
Terry over the years has slowly lost his speed and other attributes but he is still a smart reader of the game and has excellent distribution stats for a defender.
He has a passing accuracy of 93%, way more than any other defender for the club and it is important that they find the right player to replace him especially with no strong central defender in the club at the moment.
The likes of Kurt Zouma and Gary Cahill have not looked convincing this season and the club needs a serious overhaul in the summer before the start of the next season.
Papy Djilobodji was sent out on loan after he barely featured for the club in the first half of the season and the likes of Kostas Manolas have been linked to a move to the club this summer.
It will be important for Chelsea to get in the right personnel to replace their long-serving captain else they will have to face a long season without a proper backbone.
Do you think Chelsea can replace Terry this summer?
