The Reds could go for a shock move for United keeper Victor Valdes. The 33-year-old Spaniard was signed on an 18-month contract by the Old Trafford club after he completed his rehabilitation following his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury at the end of his contract with Barcelona. It seemed as though Valdes could be a decent backup for the Red Devils as David de Gea was rumored to move to Madrid, then. However, things didn’t turn out well for Valdes.

Reports said that Valdes refused to play in a reserves match which fired a spark between him and the United gaffer. His relations with the boss became shaky ever since. In the month of July, LvG placed him on the transfer list. The following month, Valdes was not given a squad number for the upcoming season. Things became worse for him, day by day. An offer from Besiktas was made, but the deal couldn’t go ahead as the personal terms weren’t agreed.

However, now there seems to be a ray of hope as new Liverpool boss, Mr. Jurgen Klopp is keen on buying the former Barcelona ace. Klopp might bring an end to the Spanish goal keeper’s nightmare. Klopp is looking for goalkeepers and it may seem as to Valdes tops his list. Valdes coming at Anfield would mean it would be a final goodbye to Simon Mignolet who hasn’t had a satisfactory season with the Reds.

Apart from Valdes, Liverpool is also eyeing Ter Stegen as a replacement for Mignolet. However, Valdes stands out as first choice for the goalie’s position at Anfield. January could indeed bring in a ‘new year’ for Valdes if Liverpool succeed in signing him and ending his awful spell at Old Trafford.
