In a season of mis-fortune, Chelsea were dealt another blow with rumors about a star player wanting away from the club. One of the most successful goal-keepers in recent times, Thibaut Courtois has reportedly issued a request to leave the club.
According to OK Diario, the Belgian shot stopper is keen on a move to Spain where he had a successful spell at Atletico Madrid winning the League. He is reportedly interested to go back to the capital but is hoping to find a place at Bernabeau.
Keylor Navas who was snapped up by the Los Blancos last summer has had an excellent season so far in front of goal. It will be hard to imagine someone of Courtois’ talent playing second fiddle but the Spanish club have shown an eagerness to sign a long term replacement for Iker Casillas who left the club at the end of last season.
Courtois is just back from a lengthy injury and has not yet settled at the London franchise. However, it is understood that Real Madrid are still keen on David de Gea who almost left Old Trafford in the summer transfer window.
Things at Stamford Bridge are shaky at the moment as not long ago, reports suggested that Cesc Fabregas has also asked to quit the team. If it happens, the Courtois transfer will be one of prime importance for the Premier League club.
