Things Manchester United should do before the end of the transfer window

The Red devils have started their new season brightly. They picked up two victories in the first two matches of the season even after putting in un-convincing performances. But their Champions League qualifier saw them play some slick football as they beat Club Brugge in their opener. However, they still have a lot of work to be done on their squad which is star studded but lacks a bit of balance.

This article is a detail of what Manchester United and Louis van Gaal can do in the remainder of the transfer window –

The biggest causalities for the club this window has been the departure of Radamel Falcao and Angel di Maria. Both players arrived at the club with high expectation but failed to impress. They were linked with Barcelona star Pedro for a large part of the window but with him having reportedly accepted a deal at the Stamford Bridge, United will need to find another creative mid-fielder/winger.

The arrivals of Schweinsteiger, Schneiderlin, Depay and Darmian have surely strengthened the squad but certain areas of the team still need a bit of improvement. The central mid-field is one area that is thoroughly addressed and the manager will not want to change anything in the middle of the park. They have quality and depth in the mid-field area and need to look at other spots in the squad that need a bit of fixing.

But the real problem for the Manchester Club has been their central defense. Though Van Gaal has used Daley Blind and either Chris Smalling or Phil Jones effectively, they may not be as effective as the season goes and the manager surely needs another proper center half before he steps into the business end of the tournament.

They were linked with the Madrid star Sergio Ramos but he has now penned a new deal at the Spanish Club till 2020. Nicolas Otamendi has also snubbed the club for their city rivals Manchester City. David de Gea also looks closer to a transfer away from the club. Sergio Romero however, provides cover for the Spaniard.

There are still a number of players like Jonny Evans and Victor Valdez who are close to leaving the club this window. So Manchester United will have to be very alert and will have to snap up a deal for a forward and a center half before the end of the window.

The biggest news that will make any Red Devil drool has been the reported interest of the club in acquiring the services of German star Thomas Muller. Van Gaal has openly praised the international and it looks like the club will do everything they can to get him to Old Trafford. However, it is hard to see a regular starter at Bayern leave the club.

So United are in a slightly troublesome position with parts of the squad still to be addressed and the dead line day will only send more shivers through the supporters. Though the squad looks world class, the demands of English football are high and the manager may well need a player or two more to add to the squad if he wants to have a successful year in the Premier League.
