Henrikh Mkhitaryan is arguably the most in-form player Manchester United have signed this summer as the flamboyant Armenian has had the best season of his career with Borussia Dortmund last season.

The talented midfielder was regarded as one of the best players in Germany for his play making abilities. However, life was not easy for Mkhitaryan in his debut season with United as he was hardly provided opportunities by Mourinho in the initial months.

But with results not going their way, Mourinho handed a start to Mkhitaryan in the league cup last week and he has made the most of the opportunity by impressive runs deep into West Ham’s defense.

Mkhitaryan has shown his potential with the German giants and Mourinho should start playing him more if the Portuguese tactician wants more wins in the coming weeks. There is no doubt about the quality of the 27-year old but it is up to Jose Mourinho to use him in the best way possible as he can win the games on his own if he is in form.

Wings are one of the areas where Manchester United are weak. The addition of Mkhitaryan would give Mourinho much needed pace and dynamism in the attack which had looked okay over the past few months.

Despite the brilliance of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Juan Mata in the centre of the pitch, there is not much of the supply that came from either side of the pitch. The inclusion of Mkhitaryan would make wing play more effective for United and which could, in turn, help the attackers free up in the middle.

The absence of creators in the midfield has also increased the pressure on Paul Pogba who has been taking the burden of creating chances for the club.

Mkhitaryan could play a No.10, as well as a winger which could make things little tough for the opposition defense as he can be given the role of a free roamer (similar to that of Thomas Muller at Bayern Munich) which could open up the defense at will. The Armenian could be the final piece in the Mourinho setup before the club starts getting the results.

Despite their improved performances and dominance over the past few weeks, Manchester United have failed to register wins in the league as they are often held to a draw. Mkhitaryan can play a huge role in the proceedings over the next few weeks which could, in turn, help Manchester United close the gap as they are currently way adrift of league leaders Chelsea.
