After a two-week international break, the Premier League is back in the city and back with some mouth-watering clashes between top clubs in the country. The biggest game of them all will be the face-off between league leaders Manchester City and 10th placed Liverpool at the Etihad stadium on Saturday.

Incidentally, this will be the first game for Klopp against a club placed in the top 5 of the Premier League. In this article, we will take a look at 5 key players for the Citizens who can help the home team come out of this game victorious.

1. Eliaquim Mangala (Defense):

Manchester City have been solid at the back conceding just 9 goals in the Premier League so far. One of the major reasons for this record has been the in-form ex-Porto man Mangala. He is strong and has the ability to read the game in front of goal breaking down attacks at the back. He is also marauding in the air and can cause problems for Jurgen Klopp’s side on both ends of the field. His form coming into this game can be crucial for the home team.

2. Fernandinho (Midfield):

One of the major hits of this season for Pellegrini’s side has been Fernandinho who has done an excellent job shielding his back four. The Brazilian is a no non-sense defender who relieves the pressure on his defensive line. He is also adept in controlling the tempo of the game in the middle and links well with the likes of Yaya Toure to help City in their attacks. His late runs into the box also cause the opponents plenty of problems.

3. Yaya Toure (Midfield):

A player that oozes class every time he plays, Yaya Toure is one of the most important players for Manchester City. He has the skill and technique to go past defenders with ease and also has a great eye for goal. He is an excellent finisher and is extremely good at creating chances for his team-mates. His job in the mid-field will be to keep the game running down the flanks and his presence of mind will more often than not open the defenses.

4. Kevin de Bruyne (Midfield):

One of the best summer signing in the country, the ex-Wolfsburg man, de Bruyne has had a great impact on the club since his debut. He has taken no time to get used to the English League and has been one of the most creative players in the league so far this season. He is a willing runner and has great spatial awareness. He is also an instinctive finisher who can score goals when his team needs him the most. He will be one of the biggest threats for Liverpool on Saturday.

5. Raheem Sterling (Attack):

The most highlighted topic of this game is surely the young winger Raheem Sterling. He made a big-money move in the summer from Liverpool to Manchester City and will face his old club for the first time. Sterling since his debut, has become an important player for Pellegrini in the wake of the number of injuries sustained. His pace and dribbling ability will surely test the Liverpool back four and keeping him quiet can go a long way in the quest to get a result for the Merseysiders.

It is also expected that the likes of Sergio Aguero and David Silva will return to the squad for this game after recovering from injuries. However, it is hard for them to regain full fitness and start the game but if they do, Liverpool will have major problems in defense.

Leave your opinion on who can be the match-winner for City against Liverpool at the Etihad stadium on Saturday.
