Torino’s Matteo Darmian has been one of the many talented full-backs to have been linked with a move to Manchester United next summer. Darmian has been quiet over the rumours linking him away from Torino but he decided to speak his mind during the International Break and it definitely comes as positive news for Man United.

Darmian said: “We will see [what happens] at the end of the season. Certainly for my growth, all credit goes to Torino.

These comments indicate that Darmian fancies a move to Manchester United and since he has been one of Italy’s most consistent players over the last 1-2 years, Van Gaal would prefer to have a more stable right back in his team, someone like Matteo Darmian.

Darmian is a typical Italian defender – Strong, Pacey and tactful. Darmian played his best game for Italy in the World Cup encounter against England where he Leighton Baines look a school kid. His discipline would be the one asset which Van Gaal would love to install in his set up.

Darmian has really flourished this season which has gather wide range of interest for the player from the likes of Manchester United and Inter Milan. United’s financial powers allow them to buy any player they want. Darmian would be more conventional signing than a flamboyant one, I believe.

It is up to Van Gaal to decide, what kind of right full-back he prefers for the next season as he clearly cannot trust Rafael or Valencia to go error free for the entire season. Darmian’s presence would make United more assured on the opponent’s counter attacks and he is an asset going forward as well.
