Arsenal and Liverpool are ready to lock horn for Charlton starlet Ademola Lookman, according to latest reports.
The Mirror claims Tottenham and Southampton are also keen on the 18-year-old.
The report suggests all four clubs sent scouts to watch Lookman represent England at last month’s European Under-19 Championships.
And they must have been impressed by what they saw as the Premier League quartet are apparently willing to part with more than £2m to do a deal.
Arsenal have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Lyon star Alexandre Lacazette.
The Gunners have been closely linked with a move for the £42m-rated hitman as Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his attacking options.
But according to TransferMarketWeb, Jean Michel Aulas, the French club’s president, has reaffirmed his stance that the striker will not be sold this summer.
Lookman is blessed with great pace, which can be used to great effect on the counter attack. He uses his balance and ability to turn quickly to disorientate defenders and put them on the back foot.
All football fans want to watch exciting players and Lookman’s direct running, skill and flair can get the crowd off their seat. He is certainly not afraid to take players on and has the fearlessness many top young players have, which makes him so dangerous going forward.
Despite coming from Non-League Lookman has good technique and quick speed of thought. He is the type of player that can change a game as he can run with the ball and is an instinctive finisher.
However, at 18 years of age and inexperienced at a professional level Lookman is certainly raw and in need of development but he has a lot of the attributes needed to make it at the top level.
