Arsenal are planning a bid for Marseille’s young striker Michy Batshuayi, French media reports.

Arsene Wenger was reluctant to buy any single player in the summer transfer window but according to a media outlet from France, Mercato 365 Arsenal are eager to recruit a positive young striker in the January transfer window. The report said Arsene Wenger already earmarked Marseille striker Michy Batshuayi’s good run League 1 as he aims to bolster his squad as quickly as possible.

Danny Welbeck is sidelined till the new year and Olivier Giroud struggling to find his last season’s form, bringing in a positive striker is now on top of the wish list as the Gunners aim to win a significant title challenge this season. The 22-year-old Belgian striker has been in absolutely brilliant form this season scoring 6 goals in 9 appearances already. Fast and clever finisher Batshuayi’s current contract with Marseille is till 2019.

Reports also claiming the club rejected PSG’s more than €30m offer back in the summer for the. Marseille’s this ‘tough nut to crack’ approach suggesting it is highly unlikely that they will let go the youngster in next transfer window. Marseille have already lost Florian Thauvin, Dimitri Payet and Gianelli Imbula in the summer. They brought in Batshuayi only in 2014 from Standard Liege and could delay any possible deal until the summer transfer window next year. But Arsenal is desperate; the club’s hierarchy will expectedly contact Marseille in the coming week.
