Along with Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, Marcus Rashford has also agreed to terms for a four-year deal with Manchester United.
The new contract will keep the youngster at Manchester United until June 2020. There is also an additional option for an extra season in the contract.
Reports from Goal.com also suggest that Manchester United youngster Cameron Borthwick-Jackson has also penned a contract, which had similar commitments as Rashford’s.
Back to back brilliant performances have earned the young English striker a better contract at the club, as his previous contract was due to expire in 2017.
Rashford made his senior team debut in Manchester United’s 5-1 Europa League victory over Midtjylland this February, in which he netted twice. And since then he hasn’t disappointed the Red Devils’ fans. The 18-year-old went on scoring 8 goals in all competitions this season in his 18 appearances, rewarding him a call up from the England team for the EURO 2016.
Rashford said: “I am delighted to have signed a new contract. I have always been a Manchester United fan, so to be playing in the first team really is a dream come true,”
“I am grateful for having the chance to prove myself. To be able to play football at the biggest club in the world means everything to me and my family.”
Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, who won United’s Under-21 player of the year award at the end of the season, has also impressed everyone with his brilliant performances in the 14 appearances that he made for the senior team.
Ed Woodward, Manchester United’s Executive vice chairman was very happy after the successful renewals of Rashford and Cameron, and was very confident of the youngsters’ future at the club.
He said: “Marcus is a naturally talented footballer with great potential. He has taken his chances well and has integrated into the first team very quickly. I am delighted that Marcus has signed a new contract, he is at the right club to continue his development. He is still very young and we need to be patient but he is developing in the right way and we believe he has a great future ahead of him.
“Cameron is one of a number of young players to come through our academy to make their first-team debut last season. This is something that our club has always done and promoting the academy and U21 players is something that makes everybody associated with the club very proud. I’m delighted that Cameron has signed his new contract and look forward to seeing him in the squad for many years to come.” Woodward added about Cameron.
