Feb 23, 2017 at 10:20 AM
In the first leg of UCL 2016/17 round of 16, Juventus beat the 10-man hosts Porto by 2-0. Marko Pjaca (72′) and Dani Alves (74′) were the goal scorer for the Italian visitors while Alex Telles was sent off due to successive bookings.
After the host went down to 10 men, hosts Porto totally surrendered on the pitch as they had no clue against the visitors. Meanwhile, dominant Juventus failed to convert many chances which meant a delay in opening their account.
On 27 minutes, the hosts were down to 10 men. Two successive bookings in less than 2 minutes due to awful challenges, caused a red card for the left-back Alex Telles. However, Juventus failed to take that opportunity in the first half as they only managed one shot on target (out of 8 shots) in that half.
The best moment was just before the half-time when Dybala’s shot from 25-yard distance unluckily hit the post and went out for a goal-kick. It was a goalless first half from the both sides.
In the early second half (48’), Dybala smashed the net from Pjanic’s beautiful flick over the ball but the Argentine was caught in an offside position which also denied the goal in the result.
The scenario had not changed much until the visitors’ first goal on 72 minutes. Dybala’s pass hit Lynn’s feet and then travelled to Pjanic who netted the ball comfortably to make 1-0 on the scoreboard for Juventus.
Just two minutes later, Dani Alves stretched Juventus’ lead to 2-0. Alves received Sandro’s cross with his chest before making a clinical finish without giving any chance to the Casillas.
On 86 minutes, Khedira had a great chance to add another goal for the Italian side but the German failed to find the target at the end.
At the end of the match, Juventus claimed a 2-0 victory against the hosts Porto. Juventus earned two away goals which put them well ahead to secure their place in the next round. The return leg will be played on 14th March at Juventus Stadium (Turin).
