Paulo Dybala’s cool-headed spot-kick against a 10-man Porto takes Juventus comfortably to the next round of UCL 2016/17

Achieving a 1-0 victory in the return leg match against Porto, Juventus comfortably confirmed their quarter-final berth of UCL 2016/17 with a strong aggregate score of 3-0. In the first leg of this round, Juventus had snatched a 2-0 win against the hosts Porto.

In the return leg match in Italy, Paulo Dybala (42’) scored the only goal from a penalty. Porto down to 10-man in the match after Maxi Pereira received a direct red card during the penalty incident.

Juventus totally dominated on the field during this return leg match.

Dybala had the first opportunity to earn an early lead on just 3 minutes of the match. However, the hosts’ attacker made a very disappointing finish in that moment as the ball went over the bar with huge distance.

Just 4 minutes later, Dybala was once again looking as a threat for opponent though his outside the box shot travelled wide of the post.

On 23 minutes, a close distance header from Mandzukic safely landed on Iker Casillas’ hands. Cuadrado made a superb cross which was followed by Mandzukic’s on target header.

In the very next minute, there was another big chance for the hosts. That time Dani Alves produced a great cross to Higuain whose header was timely blocked by Felipe’s header.

After that, the hosts continued enjoying their dominating position for most of the times. On 40 minutes, the Italian side earned a penalty as the visitors were down to the 10-man.

During that incident, Higuain’s shot was blocked by Maxi Pereira with his hands which cost a penalty for the visitors and also reduced to 10-man on the field for the visitors. Pereira was sent off at that moment through a direct red card following that incident.

Dybala comfortably opened the account for the hosts after putting the ball to the bottom right corner while Casillas made a jump to the wrong end.

At the early second half, Porto had a great chance to open their scoreline. In the counter attack, Soares created a clear space after beating his marker but at the end, he frustrated as his shot ran wide of the goal.

In that second half, Juventus were desperate to extend their lead though they failed on that mission. On the other hand, Porto was totally helpless on the field while their few chances went into vain due to lack of on target.
