The Red Devils have had some tough time this season with the team not able to produce any kind of consistency. Some of those problems could be due to the number of injuries to the players in the squad.

Luke Shaw picked up a near season ending injury earlier in the season and the recent injuries to Phil Jones and Ashley Young has left the Manchester outfit weak in defense.

And further news about Darmian’s injury in the weekend has now seen the Old Trafford franchise take some desperate steps to strengthen their defense.

The Daily Mail has now reported that Manchester United are keen on bringing veteran defender Ashley Cole back to England.

Ashley Cole who has had his stints with Premier League giants in the past, is a free agent after his contract with Italian side AS Roma ended last month.

However, the report also claimed that this move might not really be possible with MLS franchise LA Galaxy understood to be in advanced talks for the 35-year old.

Ashley Cole who won the Champions League in his time at Chelsea, has not been able to fit into Spalletti’s side and has made just 16 appearances in all competitions.

It is to be seen whether the prospect of one last Premier League stint with a club like United will tempt Cole to think again but the moral of this story seems to be the lack of confidence on the manager shown by the United board.

The recent loss to Southampton has now mounted more pressure on Louis van Gaal and with the fans turning around him, the club seems to be inclined towards cheaper alternatives.
