United’s sensational summer signing makes a SUPERFLOP appearances on international duty

Paul Pogba may well be the most expensive player in world football, but he’s had to endure a fairly tricky last couple of months.

The dynamic midfielder, who joined Manchester United from Italian giants Juventus for £89 million this past summer, has failed to really get going on English soil this season.

Scoring just one goal so far for the Red Devils, Pogba has flattered to deceive more often than not.

You would have thought, then, that he would have welcomed the opportunity to link up with France for their World Cup qualifying fixtures.

On Friday, though, as France overcame Bulgaria by four goals to one, Pogba once again put in a below-par display.

In fact, following the clash, France manager Didier Deschamps criticised the midfielder, insisting that he ‘must do better’.

“He can and must do better,” Deschamps said of Pogba, as per the Mirror.

“When he has a defensive role like that, that’s not the best for him.

“This is more a construction part, protection as compared to the central hinge. He has everything to do it. He did some good things, some others less good.”

But just how bad was Pogba against Bulgaria? Well, his individual highlights from the international game have now emerged…

The United star failed to truly stamp his mark on the game and rarely made an attempt to roam forward.

Ultimately, though, one moment, in particular, summed up his display against Bulgaria. If you skip to 42 seconds in the video, you will painfully watch a rather horrendous shot from the Frenchman.

Despite the difficult period, it would be foolish to write him off at this stage. In fact, Pogba will be handed a shot at redemption when Deschamps’ side take on Netherlands on Monday night.

With France and Netherlands currently leading the way at the top of Group A World Cup qualifying – both teams have four points from two games – it should be a fine showdown in Amsterdam. It will just be interesting to see which Pogba shows up.
