Valencia owner Peter Lim wants to sign Manchester United playmaker Juan Mata, according to reports in Spain.
Spanish website Plaza Deportiva claim that Lim has met Manchester United club officials last Saturday to discuss over a potential move for their former star.
However, Lim is not keen on a permanent deal but the Spanish club are looking for a loan deal as the La Liga side are unable to net the Spaniard’s wages.
Valencia are keen to bring their former star back to the club if the Red Devils agree to pay a part of his wages.
The Spanish international is speculated to move away from Old Trafford after Jose Mourinho took over as the manager as the pair don’t have a good relationship with each other during their time at Stamford Bridge.
The 28-year old is one of the best midfielders for the Red Devils last season but has not played any big role in the pre-season this summer. However, he started in their league opener against Bournemouth and have bagged a goal in the match.
But the arrival of Paul Pogba meant his place in the starting line-up could not be guaranteed in the upcoming matches.
Chelsea signed Mata from Valencia for £23.5m in 2011. With the arrival of José Mourinho at Stamford Bridge in 2013, the player was sold to Manchester United in January 2014 for a record £37 million.
