Valencia confirm Prandelli as coach

Madrid, Oct 2 (IANS) Spanish football club Valencia has confirmed former Italy coach Cesare Prandelli as their new first team head coach.

The 59-year-old former coach of Roma and Fiorentina replaces Pako Ayestaran, who was sacked after Valencia lost their first four matches of the season, reports Xinhua.

Prandelli will be officially presented to the press and fans on Monday evening and has signed a contract which takes him to the end of June 2018, the club announced on Saturday.

He will, however, have a difficult task at a club which has devoured coaches since the departure of Unai Emery in 2012.

The last four years have seen Valencia sack seven coaches as well as seeing current temporary coach Voro take over the reins on two occasions.
