According to reports in England, Manchester are no longer interested in signing Toni Kroos.

Kroos, 24, has been linked with Man United for months now, and reports today suggested United have agreed a £20million deal for the Bayern Munich midfielder, after Bayern Munich president Karl Hopfner confirmed that the club will not increase their contract offer to Toni Kroos. It now appears Van Gaal has decided not to sign the German international, according to The Telegraph and The Guardian.

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes today urged the club to sign Toni Kroos and suggested the club should sign 5-6 top players to get anywhere near the top.

“The first player I’d bring in is Toni Kroos,” Scholes wrote in his blog for Paddy Power.

“He’s a top-class central midfield player but United need five or six to get anywhere near the top of the Premier League again.”

Bayern Munich are trying everything to keep Kroos at the club, and that has now forced Manchester United to back off and concentrate on other targets. Van Gaal has been given a transfer kitty of up to £200 million to invest this summer, with players like Luke Shaw, Cesc Fabregas and Edinson Cavani linked to the club.
