Barcelona have ramped up their pursuit for Paris Saint-Germains’ Marco Verratti by reportedly offering an incredible deal.
The club have made no secret about their desire to sign the Italian midfielder. After showcasing his talents against them in last season’s Champions League, the Catalans are hoping to bolster their squad with his addition.
Though, needless to say, PSG are refusing to listen to offers for their star player. But the transfer saga has taken another twist with reports of Barcelona tabling another offer.
Barcelona Ready To Offer Rakitic
According to reports, Barcelona are plotting a £60 million bid plus midfielder Ivan Rakitic per SPORT. The Croatian is worth at least £40 million so the bid is in effect worth £100 million.
Rakitic has enjoyed three seasons at the Camp Nou following his move from fellow La Liga side Sevilla in 2014. The current PSG boss, Unai Emery, was the manager of Sevilla, and worked with Rakitic who starred for his side as they won the UEFA Cup in 2014.
He skippered the team before sealing a move to Barcelona. Though his future has come under scrutiny with the player linked with a move away from Spain.
The report continues to suggest that the potential deal could improve PSG’s transfer budget for AS Monaco sensation Kylian Mbappe. It’s believed that they could also reverse their stance on Verratti should they land the budding striker.
In the process, Emery would already have a replacement for Verratti in Rakitic.
PSG remain heavily linked with a move for the 18-year-old striker as his transfer continues to rumble on. As well as the French outfit, Real Madrid and Manchester City are also muted to be tracking his progress.
