Neymar has become the latest Barcelona player to make history after his goal in the weekend’s victory over Granada saw him become the latest player to hit 100 goals for the club.
Having only joined the club in 2013, the 25-year-old has wasted no time in making a name for himself at the Nou Camp and he can now count himself alongside some particularly esteemed peers.
However, despite the scoreline and the dominant performance that came with it, the Brazilian international left it late to make his mark, eventually finding the net in the 91st minute of the encounter.
Throughout the game, Neymar didn’t look himself, and seemed to be losing his footing a lot and misplacing passes he normally wouldn’t have a problem with completing.
And one Spanish TV station has decided to give an in-depth focus on the player’s performance, and they seem to have found the reason for him not being at his best throughout the majority of the encounter.
Judging by the evidence, which you can see for yourself below, it would appear as though he had a few problems with his boots.
Neymar is one of Nike’s most profitable poster boys, but was shown adjusting and pulling at his lime green boots throughout the game before finally having them changed.
Whether it was the studs or the fit of the boots is still uncertain, but he was suddenly looking more like his old self once he’d swapped them.
The win over Granada has kept Barcelona within two points of Real Madrid at the top of the table, though Los Blancos still have a game in hand over their arch rivals.
Luis Suarez opened the scoring just before half time, before Paco Alcacer gave Barca the lead again just 10 minutes after the hosts had equalised. Ivan Rakitic added a late third and Neymar rounded up the scoring just before the whistle.
Most of the reports in Spain have been focussing on Neymar’s goal tally reaching triple figures, but El Dia Despues have taken a rather different approach.
