Chinese Super League witnessed one of the most hilarious moments of the year in football after League side Chongqing Lifan’s goalkeeper Sui Weijie was found sipping water when his opponent scored the goal from a direct free kick.

The goal came as a massive blow for Lifan’s hope of surviving as the team is stuttering in the relegation zone and they were leading 1-0 with 7 minutes remaining in the game when the home side, Liaoning were given a free kick outside the penalty box.

Chongqing Lifan’s goalkeeper Sui Weijie misread the situation and stood aside having water when Liaoning midfielder Ding Haifeng stormed pass his teammates to have a shot on goal seeing ref’s signal to continue the play.

Unaware of ref’s signal, Sui Weijie was still sipping water when Liaoning scored the vital equalizer in the dying minutes of the game.

Following the error, Sui Weijie admitted to his silly mistake saying, “I made a terrible mistake in Sunday’s game and let go a full three points.

“I won’t repeat the same mistake and will never lose concentration.”

Sipping water proved too costly for Sui Weijie, who has been fined 50,000 yuan (£5,233) and a possible suspension. If that was not enough, the player was confronted by the fans at the local airport.

Looks like, Sui Weijie will not enjoy having water in coming time.
