Philippe Coutinho has scored three absolute wonder goals in the last couple of weeks for Liverpool as they now look favourites to seal a Champions League berth. The first came against Bolton in the FA Cup.

The second came against Southampton at the St.Mary’s where Liverpool won 2-0.

The 22-year-old Brazilian international scored another beautiful goal against defending champions Manchester City as Liverpool beat them 2-1 at Anfield.

Speaking after the game, Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers believes it’s “frightening” to know what he could be worth right now. Coutinho joined Liverpool from Inter Milan for £8.5million, which now looks like an absoulute bargain for the Merseyside outfit

“I think he’s a star in the Premier League already,” said Rodgers. “He joined us for £8.5m three years ago – it’s frightening to know what he could be worth now.

“He’s a joy to watch and now he’s started scoring goals. He’s a kid who has so much ahead of him in the game.

“He’s 22 and people forget he came to us at 19. He is a sensational footballer and to beat Joe Hart from that angle and with that power was phenomenal.

“His technique is at a high high level, so he’s going to score a lot more goals.”
