Quique Sanchez Flores has worked wonders with the Watford squad this season as he has seen them play some sizzling football at times in the Premier League.

The success in this season has seen the Hornets land one of the hottest prospects in Europe in Mario Suarez in January and it will not come as a surprise that the club is now linked with a number of stars from all across Europe.

According to The Mirror, Watford now have their eyes set on on-loan Chelsea defender Nathan Ake on a permanent basis this summer.

The Dutch international is currently a part of the squad at the Vicarage road where he moved before the start of the season on a year- long loan move from Chelsea.

He was acquired as a back-up for Jose Holebas in the squad but injuries to the Watford defender has seen Ake take his place in the starting XI and has ever since been impressive in every outing for the Hornets.

He has caught the eye of many teams in his stint with the Vicarage outfit and this has seen Sanchez Flores ponder about making the loan deal permanent after the end of the season.

The 21-year old is a versatile defender and has already proven himself to be capable of challenging in the top flight of English football and will be the perfect suit for the Watford side with players full of potential.

However, the defender is happy to stay at Chelsea provided he can get enough game time next season but with big names set to arrive at Stamford Bridge next season, Ake might not be able to find a place in the starting XI at Chelsea next season.

This leaves a move to Watford as the only solution for the 21-year old who can prove to be a big asset for the mid-table side.

He signed a new long-term deal with the Blues before his move to Watford on loan but the lack of playing time at Chelsea might help Watford get their man this summer.

It is also understood that Chelsea are not too keen to keep him at Stamford Bridge and it was reported that in the region of £3million could be enough for Watford to seal Ake’s signature.

The asking price for the 21-year old is worth taking a gamble but it will be interesting to see whether Sanchez Flores sticks to his decision or brings in another player this summer.
