Wayne Shaw Returns To Non-League Football After Pie Gate Controversy

Former Sutton United goalkeeper Wayne Shaw is set for a return to non league football as he is appointed as new Commercial manager for AFC Totton, the club has confirmed.

The 45-year old has become an overnight sensation in the country after eating a pie on the touchline the game against Arsenal in FA Cup earlier this season. The goalie was eating a pie on the sidelines and was drawn into a controversy which is famously known as ‘pie-gate’.

He was soon asked to resign by the club after the game and was left out of game over the past few months. Shaw, knew Sun Bets had offered odds of 8-1 that he would be seen eating on camera, was left depressed after the incident.

However, he was offered a new job by super market chain Morrisons which would see him taste pies and evaluate them. The major super market retailer believed that Shaw would be the perfect man for the job.

Shaw is now back to football and will be the new commercial manager for AFC Totton in non league football. The club are determined to make numerous changes to their squad and board.

The acquisition of Wayne Shaw is one of the major steps taken by the club and they believe he is the right man to be in the board for AFC Totton.

The official statement from AFC Totton read: “We believe having Wayne on board will help this wonderful football club take a huge step towards realising its undoubted potential. Wayne has the bubbly personality and he is a Totton lad, so if anybody can make this a success of this role then it will be Wayne Shaw.”

Wayne Shaw also lives in Totton and the club are convinced that getting Wayne as their new commercial manager would be a huge boost for their commercial aspect as the 45-year old’s popularity in the country have hit the roof after the game against Arsenal in FA Cup fifth round earlier this season.

We wish Wayne that he can excel well in his new role at Totton and have wonderful career ahead as the commercial manager of the club.
