Welbeck And Perez To Start! Arsenal Predicted Lineup To Face Southampton In The FA Cup

FA Cup 4th Round; Saturday, 28th Jan; St Marys, Southampton; KO: 5:30 pm BST (11:00 pm IST)

Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal are currently in the 2nd place in the points table, 8 points off Chelsea at the top and will be happy with the late win at Burnely in the league last weekend. The Gunners will be back in action this weekend as they face Southampton in the 4th round of the FA Cup. The Saints are fresh from a victory over Liverpool in the League Cup semi-final and are expected to put in a decent fight while Arsene Wenger will hope that his side can get the work done on the night and not push it into the second leg. The manager might make a few changes to his side for this game but will go with a strong lineup. Here is the predicted lineup he might field for this game:

Team News:

Arsene Wenger is still without the services of Santi Cazorla, Per Mertesacker, Mathieu Debuchy, and Yaya Sanogo for this game. Mohamed Elneny is out on international duty while Granit Xhaka is out suspended and remain the only other absentees for this game.

Expected lineup (4-2-3-1):

David Ospina:

The back up shot stopper for Petr Cech, Ospina, is expected to take his place in the starting XI for this game.

Hector Bellerin:

The Spaniard was used off the bench at the weekend against Burnely and is expected to start this game to try and get back to full fitness.

Gabriel Paulista:

After putting in a decent performance on the flank against Burnley, Paulista, is expected to move to a center back role to give Koscielny a much needed rest this weekend.

Shkodran Mustafi:

The German defender has been sublime this season for the Gunners and will be the senior in the back line for Arsenal.

Kieran Gibbs:

The English defender will get his chance in the first team as he will replace Nacho Monreal on the left-flank, to give the first choice left-back some respite from first team action.

Aaron Ramsey:

The Welsh midfielder has not been able to cement a starting XI at the club this season but this game will give him a decent opportunity to prove himself to the manager.

Francis Coquelin:

The first choice midfielder for Wenger this season, Coquelin, should keep his place in the side, in the absence of Xhaka and Elneny for this game.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain:

The English winger has been another player on the fringes of the first team under Wenger and will hope to put in a decent performance against the Premier League side.

Alex Iwobi:

The youngster has been superb in the attacking third for Arsenal when called upon and he should keep his place in the first team for this game.

Lucas Perez:

The Spaniard is now getting used to the conditions in England and will hope to have an impact on this FA Cup tie.

Danny Welbeck:

The English striker is coming back from a lengthy injury and Wegner should start him in this game to try and get him back to full fitness.
