UEFA Champions League, quarter-final first leg; Tuesday, 11th April; Juventus Stadium, Turin; KO: 18:45 (12:15 am IST on Wednesday)
Luis Enrique’s Barcelona failed to take even a point from their trip to Malaga as they lost a chance to cover some ground at the top of the table. They are currently six points off Real Madrid, who have played a game less, but Barcelona have bigger things to worry about this week. After their debacles at Malaga, the Catalan giants will travel to Turin for their quarter-final of the Champions League on Tuesday.
Juventus have been in great form, leading into this game, as they took all three points from the league game against Chievo on Saturday. The two teams met in the champions League final a couple of years where the Catalan giants managed to lift the trophy but Massimiliano Allegri will know that his side have a great chance to qualify for the semi-finals this campaign. Enrique is expected to field his strongest lineup for this game and here is the predicted lineup he might play on the night:
Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal will miss the trip to Turin with long term injuries. Sergio Busquets in suspended but the likes of Ivan Rakitic, Andres Iniesta, and Gerard Pique, all of who missed the game at the weekend, are expected to be back in action.
Expected Lineup (3-4-3):
Marc-Andre Ter-Stegen has been decent for Barcelona and is the first choice for Luis Enrique this season. He should start this game between the sticks for the visitors. They have been successful in a 3-4-3 system and the manager should use Javier Mascherano and Samuel Umtiti on either side of Gerard Pique, to complete the three-man defensive wall for Barcelona.
With Sergio Busquets and Arda Turan out, Andres Iniesta and Ivan Rakitic are expected to start this game at the heart of the midfield. While Andre Gomes could be used to add some mettle, Barcelona should go with their strongest lineup and should use the duo just ahead of the back line.
Sergi Roberto has been used extensively on the right side of the midfield and he should keep his place in this side as a right wing-back in this 3-4-3 system. Spanish star Jordi Alba has not been at his best recently but the lack of options should see Barcelona go with Alba on the left wing in the midfield.
Luis Enrique does not have problems with his front line and is expected to field his first choice trio for this game. While Lionel Messi will start on the right win, Brazilian star Neymar Jr is expected to hog the left-flank while top goalscorer for Barcelona, Luis Suarez, should lead the attack for his side.
Here is the how they should line up:
