Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has revealed that “nothing is done” with respect to his future at the club but he has insisted that he has fulfilled the option to extend his contract for another year.
The 35-year old has joined Manchester United on a free transfer and signed a deal for just one year with an option to extend it another year. However, despite his age, he has defied all the odds and have already scored 20 goals this season making him the most prolific striker in the league.
Jose Mourinho has reiterated that the player will stay at Manchester United for the 2017/18 season on Friday and the striker’s comments are inline for a contract extension at the club.
Asked if he has triggered the extension clause with goals and appearances, Zlatan said: “Something like that. I have to score 100 goals! The option is already fulfilled. But there’s nothing done yet. ”
When asked if he has to wait and see about his contract extension, Zlatan said: “From my side. We’ll wait and see. Let’s see what happens.”
Zlatan has not only brought goals to Manchester United but has made other attackers feel at ease both on and off the pitch. Most of his teammates has already praised the Swede for his attitude to win and help others in training and youngster Anthony Martial is no exception.
“He’s not going around with his head down,” Ibrahimovic said of Martial. “He’s positive, training hard and has a lot of energy. Obviously he wants to play.
“It’s not like we go around to everybody and talk. It’s about the moment, when the situation is there.
“When we eat breakfast he sits beside me and we talk. Everybody talks to everybody.
“It’s not like you go to one and try to cheer him up. It’s a good atmosphere, the guys are very professional. Positive vibes.”
Zlatan has already scored 20 goals for Manchester United and has been their most important player as he looks to improve that tally by the end of the season.
