Australia trashed the Indian men’s hockey team 6-2 in their fourth group match at the World Hockey League semi-finals played at Anterwp, Belgium just few moments ago. It was a dominating performance by the Australian team who played some excellent hockey.

In the first quarter the Australian team dominated India. The first attack came in the 8th minute when Zwlyzaki scored an excellent field goal to give Australia 1- 0 lead. In the 9th minute Australia made another positive move but was well saved by Sreejesh. In the 12th minute Australia attacked once more but was well saved by Sreejesh again. In the 14th minute Jamie Dwyer scored from powerful reverse flick shot and gave Australia a 2-0 lead. At the end of 1 quarter Australia led 2-0.

In the 2nd quarter Australia started again on a positive note but shot was well saved by Sreejesh. India was never allowed to enter the “D” of Australia. In the 11th minute Australia asked a review for penalty corner and they got the penalty corner. Circello scored the goal from rebound shot to give Australia a 3-0 lead. In the 13th minute Australia attacked once more but was well saved by Sreejesh. At the end of 2nd quarter Australia led 3-0.

 

In the 3rd quarter Australia earned a penalty corner as asked for a review for backstick in the 3rd minute. Circello converted the penalty corner into goal to give Australia a 4-0 lead. In 3.18 minute India earned their first penalty corner, it was well saved by keeper but Birendra Lakra scored the goal to reduce the gap to 1-4. Australia attacked again and again. In the 11th minute Australia earned a penalty corner but India asked for a review and the decision was called as hit. In the 12th minute Kieron Govers scored an excellent field goal to give Australia a 5-1 lead. In the 14th minute Australia earned another penalty corner and Cirecllo converted the penalty corner into a goal to give Australia a commanding 6-1 lead. At the end of 3rd quarter Australia led 6-1.

In the 4th quarter Australia began well again attacking the Indian defence as Sreejesh made another save in the 3rd minute. In the 8th minute India’s Gurbaj Singh hit a shot and Ramandeep scored the goal to give India a consolation goal. Eventually Australia won the match 6-2.

With this India finished 2nd on points table and will face 3rd ranked team from the other group on 1st July
