Delhi Waveriders beat Mumbai Dabang 3-1 in the Hero Hockey India league match at the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium at New Delhi today. It was great display by Delhi Waveriders as they dominated the match from the start. This performance will them confidence of performing much better in the upcoming matches.

In the 1st quarter, in the 2nd minute Delhi Waveriders striker hit a shot which above the goal post. Mumbai Dabang was not at their best. In the 10th minute Llyodd Norris Jones hit a powerful shot from the die and gave Delhi Waveriders 1-0 lead. In the 13 minute LLyodd Norris Jones hit a reverse flick shot which went wide off the goal post. In the last 9 seconds of the first quarter Mumbai earned a penalty corner but was well saved by the Delhi goalkeeper. At the end of the first quarter it was 1-0 in the favor of Delhi Waveriders.

In the 2nd quarter, Delhi Waveriders began off to a great start. In the 4th minute, Delhi was awarded a penalty corner, but Mumbai asked for a review as t it went it goal but the decision was upheld. The goal scorer for Delhi Waveriders was Simon Child to give Delhi Waveriders a 2-0 lead. In the 10 minute Mumbai missed a chance when striker missed a flick which went wide off the post. At the end of the 2nd quarter it was 2-0 in favor of Delhi Waveriders.

In the 3rd quarter, Mumbai Dabang reduced the gap when Arjun Halpappa scored a goal of field pass. At the end of 3rd quarter it was 2-1 in favor of Delhi Waveriders.

In the 4th quarter, Akashdeep scored the goal for Delhi Waveriders in 6.29 minutes to make it 3-1 for Delhi Waveriders. Akashdeep missed a chance in the 9th minute of the quarter and Mumbai Dabang went to the other end and earned a penalty corner. It was well saved by the goalkeeper which was blocked and pushed out from left hand. In 9.45 minutes Mumbai Dabang missed an chance hitting over the crossbar. In 11th minute Mumbai missed another chance which went wide left of the goalkeeper. In the 14th minute, Delhi missed a field goal chance.

In the whole match Delhi got better in terms of circle penetrations with 17 for Delhi as compared to 13 to Mumbai, 5 penalty corners for Delhi and 4 for Mumbai. Delhi Waveriders hit 20 shots on target and Mumbai hit 17 shots on target. The man of the match was Lloyyd Norris Jones.  This was their first win of the tournament for Delhi Waveriders.
