India draw 2-2 with Korea in their first match at 24th Sultan Azlan Shah Tournament played at Ipoh, Malaysia just few hours ago. It was an exciting match between these two teams playing some great hockey.

In the first quarter India started off well with Ragunath getting first touch of ball scooping it to Gurbaj. In the 5th minute Mandeep manages to enter the “D” but was stopped in his tracks by the Koreans. In the 6th minute Koreans made their first attack but Ramandeep stopped the ball. In the 7th minute Hyesung  tries to enter from the left and chance wasted. In the 9th minute Juhuan passed the ball to Namyong who passes to Seokyu in the right but the ball goes high. In the 10th minute Nikkin attempts a solo run but failed, while Akashdeep two attempts were also not fruitful. In the very next sequence of event thereafter of 10th minute Rupinder gave a pass Ramandeep who in turn passed to Nikkin Thimmah who scored the goal giving India a 1-0 lead. At the end of first quarter it was 1-0 for India.

In the second quarter the first goal scoring chance came for India when Dharamvir-Ramandeep combination was denied by Korean goalkeeper and the rebound shot by Satbir failed. In the 8th minute Korea earned a penalty corner but failed to convert. Shortly after Korea got another penalty corner and was converted by Hyun to equal the score at 1-1. Korea played some attacking hockey and created pressure on India but soon after both the teams played some attacking hockey but failed to convert any chances. At the end of second quarter it was 1-1.

In the third quarter India began well in the first minute when India attacked thorugh a Rupinder long ball but neither of Sardar or Dharamvir were not able to intercept. The next few minutes India dominated the play. In the 8th minute Korea made a positive move when they attempted the shot twice but was Goal-Kepper Sreejesh came to India’s rescue. In the last 2 minutes India made good moves but were not able to convert the chances into goals. At the end of third quarter it was 1-1.

In the fourth quarter Korea began well by earning their third penalty corner in the 3rd minute but failed to find back of the net. In the 9th minute Korea took the lead when Seuong Lee scored the goal. India earned their first penalty corner in 12th minute and Ragunath scored the goal to make it 2-2. At the end of fourth quarter it was 2-2.

As a result of this draw, bot teams share 1 point each. India will play NewZeleand in their next match tomorrow 3:40 PM IST.
