India continued their poor form in the World Hockey League semi finals when they lost to New Zeleand 0-5 in their second group match played at Anterwp, Belguim last night. It was a disappointing performance by the Indian women’s team who played some poor hockey and New Zealand dominated the game throughout and never let the Indian team put pressure on the defense.

In the first quarter NewZeleand started off well getting the first penalty corner in the 3rd minute which was well saved by defender. In the 6th minute New Zealand made another attempt on goal but was well saved by the Indian goalkeeper. In the 10th minute New Zealand scored the first goal when a shot was well saved by goalkeeper and Flynn deflected into the goal to give NewZeleand a 1-0 lead. In the 11th minute New Zealand attacked once more but it was well saved again by the Indian goalkeeper. At the end of first New Zealand led 1-0.

In the second quarter New Zealand continued their dominance. In the 2nd minute Oliver Merry scored a field goal as the Indian goalkeeper tried to save the but she scored the goal to give New Zealand the 2-0 lead. In the 3rd minute New Zealand asked for review for a foot and the decision was called as penalty corner. The penalty corner was deflected wide off the goalkeeper. The Indians tried to enter the New Zealand “D” but they did not play their game to potential. At the end of 2nd quarter New Zealand led 2-0.

In the 3rd quarter New Zealand again dominated, as they scored in the 6th minute to give the black caps a 3-0 led. The Indian team did try to attack the New Zealand defense, but at the end of 3rd quarter New Zealand led 3-0 .

In the last quarter New Zealand attacked once more but was well saved by the goalkeeper. In the next minute Pierce scored another field goal to give New Zealand a commanding 4-0 lead. Another attack was made by New Zealand but was well saved by the Indian goalkeeper. In the last few minutes India asked for review but the decision stood as it is and India lost the review. In the 11th minute Pierce scored another goal to give New Zealand a 5-0 lead. New Zealand earned another penalty corner but was well saved by the Indian goalkeeper. At the end of match New Zealand won by 5-0. India has played 2 games and lost both of the games.

Their next match is against Poland tomorrow.
