Indian star wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt added the fourth Gold Medal to India’s Medal Tally after he won the men’s 65 Kg Freestyle Wrestling finals. He defeated Tajikisthan’s Zalimkhan Yusupov 1-0 in the finals. Yusupov looked defensive throughout the bout as Yogeshwar kept on pressing on the attacking button. With this win, Yogeshwar won India’s first Asian Games Gold medal in wrestling in 28 years.
In the absence of Sushil Kumar, the leader of Indian wrestling lived up to the expectations piled on him as he came on victorious. In the quarters, he defeated Jihnyok Kang 5-0 in his first match of the day followed by a tight 3-1 over chinease Yeerlanbieke Katai to book a place in the finals.
This is India’s fourth medal in Asian Games which goes along with 6 Silvers and 22 Bronze medals. This is India’s third medal in Wrestling after a twin bronze by sisters Geethika and Vineesh yesterday. India have two more Bronze medal matches lined up for the day out of which Satyavat Kadian lost the Bronze medal’s match. Babita Kumari will take on Xuechun Zhong later on in the day.
