Argentina cruised past Egypt in three straight games at the FIVB World Cup played in Japan, just a few moments ago. It was a dominating performance by Argentina who outplayed Egypt in all departments.
Argentina dominated the game from beginning. They led the score throughout by 3-5 points at any time of the first game. They were better in service, blocking, shots and placements as compared to Egypt. Egypt on the brink of giving away the first game tamely came back scoring 2 points successively when an Argentina’s placement was faulted. But they could not continue their comeback and lost the first game at 18-24.
The second game began with Egypt serving and initially the game was fought on equal level sharing one point each alternately to reach 3-4 in favor of Argentina. An Egyptian challenge went in favor of Argentina and the score was leveled again at 4. Then Egypt moved ahead to score their 5th point that was equalled again. But next 2 points were won by Egypt to lead 7-5. Argentina recovered fast and equalled the score at 7 all and also to lead 8-7 at the first break. Argentina continued their domination to lead 10-7 soon when Egypt took a strategic break. Argentina seemed to be unstoppable with good service and shots till 12-7 when the ball was hit, put by Argentinian defender. The joy was short-lived as the service was broken again and Argentina reached 15-9 soon with a powerful short b Jersey no 11. Egypt did break the service and second time out to a lead 16-10. On resumption, Egypt earned their 11th point from a good shot by Jersey no 2 to close the gap to 13-16 when a timeout taken. After the timeout, Egypt took another point but Argentina came back winning 3 successive points to lead 19-14 at the final break. Then both the teams earned one point each as services were weak. An excellent service got the Argentina their 22nd point. A good shot by Egypt’s defender was taken but went out irretrievable to take Argentina to 23-16. Then Egypt earned 3 successive points to reach 19-24 before Argentina won the game and led 2-0 sets.
The third set began with De Cecco (Jersey 15) of Argentina serving and earning a point after some rallies. His second service was faulted to level the score at 1-1. Both teams earned one point each and Egypt kept pressure to earn their third point soon to be equaled at 3-3 and again at 4-4 after a challenge by Argentina. Next Egyptian challenge went against them to take Argentina to 6-5 and then to 8-5 as they got 2 more points successively a timeout was taken. After the break, Egypt earned one point but soon service returned to Argentina due to a lucky drop hitting the net. An unintentional touch of the net by Egyptian defender took Argentina to 13-8. Ark gentian continued their good play to lead 16-10 when a technical timeout was taken. After resumption, both teams earned a point one followed, by, another point by Egypt as a result of an excellent shot by Jersey no 6, that was defended, but the ball went out of court. Soon Argentina came back earning 5 points to lead 21-14. A short recovery by Egypt to reach 21 points did not deter Argentina winning the set at 25- 21 with an excellent shot and the match.
Thus, Argentina won the match 25-18, 25-19 and 25-21. Argentina outplayed Egypt in attacks.
The most impressive player award went to De Cecco of Argentina. A Salah (J 4) played well for the losers.
