Indian Boxing sensation MC Mary Kom, along with her family members and boxing academy students joined Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s “Clean India Mission”. Ever since Mr. Modi launched the Clean India Mission, Various government departments, NGOs, political parties, security forces and civil bodies have taken up cleanliness camps in various parts of the country including Mary Kom’s state of Manipur.

Jimmy Leivon, secretary of the five-time world boxing champion and Olympics bronze medalist said that “In appreciation of PM’s historic mission Mary Kom is also supporting this venture by being a part of it”. “The Prime Minister has set a chain in motion by inviting nine individuals from different walks of life of the country and Mary Kom has been included in the chain to take the movement forward.” he said. 

“In view of the development, Mary Kom along with her family and the students of her boxing academy will be joining the Clean India mission in the region to connect the chain,” the statement added.  “Mary Kom has invited outstanding personalities of our country — Bollywood actor Darshan Kumar, Wrestlers Yogeshwar Dutt and Sushil Kumar, shooter Heena Sidhu, footballer Sunil Chettri and others to join the mission,” it added. 

According to Leivon, Mary Kom will take up the cleanliness campaign within the next few days.
