From Olympics to prostitution: The run of Suzy Favor Hamilton
Suzy Favor Hamilton, a middle distance runner from America during the 1990s, was a top contender of her time.
She tasted the limelight as she went on winning 9 NCAA championships for the University of Wisconsin and later on got a silver medal in the 1989 World University Games.
She eventually competed in the Summer Olympics for the years 1992, 1996 and 2000 in the categories of 800 metres and 1500 metres doing a commendable job but failed to bag any medal.
Without any doubt, the woman was talented in her zone and that could be bettered before she took some wrong measures and life turned into a bitter way.
Featured in many magazines and leading a happy family life, Suzy left the world in utter shock in the year 2012 while she admitted of prostitution.
She admitted that she had been into such actions in Las Vegas for a long time, starting with Haley Heston Private Collection in December 2011 with the name Kelly Lundy.
After getting flashed, the news caused her lose many of her financial contracts, Nike and Disney to mention a few of them, causing financial hardships.
While everyone thought it might be a choice that shows her potentially weak character, it was later revealed by the athlete that it was a mental bipolar disorder.
In her book Fast Girl, she mentioned, “My bipolar was driven toward sex. It could have been driven towards drugs and alcohol, or gambling. I found sex was the biggest high to fuel my mania, which is common with bipolar people.”
She also had thought of committing suicide and thus ending up the life of shame that she was leading.
“Driving home [one night], I prepared to drive my car into a tree. I accelerated faster. But I was getting closer to a home where my sweet baby girl was waiting. You have to stay alive for her.”
“The next morning, my darkest thoughts were on a loop: I had shamed my parents, my husband, our family. It would be better if I were dead,” she wrote about her acts getting revealed.
With the support from her friends and family, the woman is now living a pleasant life as a yoga teacher and has left behind all the scars from past successfully which depicts the positives of her life.
