Jaipur Pink Panthers moves to third place by beating Puneri Paltans


  • Jaipur Pink Panthers beat Puneri Paltans in the first match at the Thagraj Stadium, Delhi on Tuesday night. It was a dominating performance by Jaipur Pink Panthers who are performing well as a unit.

    Defending champions captain Praveen Navale of Puneri Paltans won the toss and chose to raid first. Sonu Narwal was tackled in first raid itself. Wazir captain of Puneri Paltans had empty first raid. Next 2 raids from Jaipur Pink Panthers also went empty. Tushar Patel of Puneri Paltans and Rajesh Narwal of Jaipur Pink Panthers were tackled in their do or die raids respectively. Mahipal earned first touch point for PP after 3 raids taking score to 3-1. Wazir was tackled by Ran Singh followed by Sonu earning a touch point to equal the score at 3 all. Prashant Chawan had empty raid. Mahipal claimed 2 touch point but umpires awarded both teams one point each. After Sonu Narwal a technical time out was taken. Wazir earned his first point with good foot work touching toe of the opponent in his fourth raid. Sonu Narwal was successfully tackled in his raid taking Pune to 6 points. Rajesh Narwal had empty raid. Followed by a touch point after touching Tushar.  Rajesh Narwal started with 2 touch points in next raid and his first raid of the days match taking score to 7-6 in favor of Pune. Mahipal was tackled; though raider touched the mid line was given out as he had not crossed mid line that is mandatory for earning point taking the score to 7 all. In next raid Ran Singh held from behind and tackled wazir. Next Sonu earned a touch point followed by tackling Virender Singh and the last man Ravi Kumar surrendered and PP was all out taking the score to 13-7 in favour of JPP. Wazir was tackled in next raid pushing him out but after a video referral Rohit Rana was also given out. Sonu Narwal got a touch point taking lead to 15-8 in 18th minute. Sonu, Rajesh and Mahipal Narwal’s all from Sonipat had earned 4,2 ,2 touch points respectively by half time. Sonu was tackled in a do or die last raid before half time break the score standing 16-8 at break Jaipur Pink Panthers had earned 7 points each for tackle and touch as against 3 each by Puneri Paltans.

    After resuming after the break first raids by Ravi for Pune and Kuldeep for Jaipur Pink Panthers went empty. In the do or die Sachin V succeeded in pulling out of Rajesh Narwal hands and touched mid line. Kuldeep earned a pint through a kick. Wazir the key raider for PP had poor raids as he had made 11 raids but earned only 2 points and was tackled 3 times in first 25 minutes.  Mallesh was tackled by Vijender supported by others taking Pune to 11 points. In the next raid was tackled getting one point to Pune. Prashant gifted another point to PP leaving only 3 players in JPP making them susceptible for all out.  Mahipal Narwal had empty raid.  Ran Singh jumped and rolled to mid line earning 18th point. Kuldeep Singh tackled Prashant and took JPP lead to 19-13, thus avoiding imminent all out. Manoj Kumar a defender had empty raid. Rajesh in do or die got a touch point. Wazir too earned a touch point in his raid taking score to 20-14 in 34th minute. After the technical time out break Rajesh earned a touch point touching Ravikmuar. Wazir was held by back and pushed and declared out. After another  technical break Mahipal was tackled out and Surender surrendered as Puneri Paltans P was all out for the second time taking Jaipur Pink Panthers score to 28. Mahipal Narwal was tackled again after team’s revival. Tushar was tackled again by another good capture by back. Mohammed a substitute was tackled in his first raid taking score 29-17. Technical time out to send 8th player out in Jaipur Pink Panthers.  Mohammed earned a point in buzzer raid taking JPP to 30-17 win. With this victory Jaipur go up to 3rd position in teams ranking.
