Dipika after raising lots of hopes beating Indian compatriot in the semifinals yesterday in WSA Granite Open failed to match the grit of Ms. Sarah Jane Perry in the finals. The English player ranked fourth defeated third ranked Dipika by 8-11, 11-6, 12-10 and 11-7.

Dipika began well and impressed a lot as Perry made too many unforced errors in the first game which Dipika took at 11-8. The English underdog corrected this in the second, pulling away from six-all to 11-6 to level the match.Perry maintained the momentum in the third, racing to a 6-2 lead. But 23-year-old Pallikal fought back to level at 10-10, before Perry clinched the game 12-10. In the fourth game too Pallikal twice led at 6-5 and 7-6 – but the Indian number one was unable to fend off Perry, who took five points in a row on the way to her triumph, and her second Granite Open title since 2013.

 Success in the WSA International 25 event in its fourth year at the Granite Club marks Perry’s eighth WSA World Tour title – and her first ever win over Pallikal, the world in three meetings since October 2011. World No.16 Perry made it to her 11th Tour final after overcoming top seed and defending champion Amanda Sobhy – ranked six places higher – in the semi-finals.

Dipika the third seeded for this tournament won over the former world no 2nd fifth seed for the tournament Ms. Jenny Duncan in a five set grueling match in the quarter finals at 11-8, 9-11, 11-6, 7-11 and 13-11 and defeating Joshna Chinnappa in semi finals at 10-12, 11-7, 11-9, 11-9.
