Vinesh Phogat settled for silver in the Women’s freestyle 48 Kg after losing her finals to Japan Yuki Ire while Narsingh Pancham Yadav bagged a bronze in men’s 74 Kg category in the Senior Asian championship in Doha on Thursday.

Vinesh put up a impressive show before going losing in the finals while Narsingh was lucky to have reached the bronze medal play off despite losing in the qualifications round. Vinesh beat Tatyana of Kazak than in the semi finals after getting the better of Byambazya of Mongolia in the quarterfinals.

In the finals Vinesh could not overcome the Japanese challenge who proved too strong for the Indian girl. Vinesh lost 2-3 at the end.

Narsingh lost to Daisuke Shimada of Japan in the qualification round but could make it repachage round because of Japanese player reaching the finals.

During his repachage bout Narsingh defeated Kong of Korea 15-4 to enter the bronze medal match. He then beat Zaikrov by 3-1 to clinch the bronze medal.

It has been a good performance by the Indian wrestlers especially women’s. Geeta Phogat won the bronze medal and yesterday Vinesh won the silver, in men’s section Narsingh won the bronze medal. It is a great sign for Indian wrestlers to perform at big stage.
