Joshua King cancelled Marcos Rojo’s opener as Manchester United were held to a frustrating 1-1 stalemate by 10-man Bournemouth and missed a good opportunity to move ahead of Liverpool in the Premier League table.
Jose Mourinho’s men began the proceedings in fine fashion as Wayne Rooney headed over the bar from an Antonio Valencia cross before Paul Pogba was denied by Artur Boruc. United kept on pressing and were nearly rewarded for it but Zlatan Ibrahimovic missed a brilliant chance to open the scoring.
Benik Afobe spurned a great chance at the other end against the run of play but United were finally rewarded for their dominating display when Rojo turned in Valencia’s shot in the 23rd minute. The home team then had to pay for their failure to convert their chances as King hit the equaliser from the spot when Phil Jones brought down Marc Pugh.
The first-half ended dramatically as Tyrone Mings stamped on the head of Ibrahimovic before the Sweden international elbowed the defender. Both the players avoided a red card for the incident but Andrew Surman was sent off after he received his second yellow card of the game for pushing Ibrahimovic.
With one-man advantage, United began the second half dominantly but they failed to make the chances count. The Red Devils had a golden opportunity to take the lead after they were awarded a penalty when Adam Smith was penalised for handling Paul Pogba’s attempt but Boruc made a fine low save to deny Ibrahimovic. United threatened again in the closing stages but the visitors managed to walk away with a precious point.

Paul Pogba spelled backwards is abgop luap which makes no sense just like the £89M Manchester United spent on him.
