Olympic superstars PV Sindhu (Badminton), Dipa Karmakar (Gymnastics), Sakshi Malik (Wrestling) and Jitu Rai (Shooting) are all set to be awarded the prestigious Khel Ratna for their excellent showing at Rio Olympics 2016.

Badminton player P V Sindhu has clinched an Olympic Silver while Sakshi Malik has won a Bronze medal in Wrestling to make India proud with their medals.

PV Sindhu despite not considered favorite to win the medal in Rio 2016, have turned the tables as she defeated World No.2 Wang Yihan in quarterfinals and Okuhara in semifinals before losing to World No.1 Carolina Marin in a grueling encounter in the finals.

Sakshi Malik was the least expected among the contenders to bring a medal to India and she was the first to clinch a medal for the nation in Rio and was made the official flag-bearer of India in the closing ceremony yesterday. She also became the first Indian woman to win a medal in wrestling.

Meanwhile, Dipa Karmakar has made the entire nation proud by becoming the first Indian woman ever to participate in Gymnastics in Olympic games. He did not just participate but have reached the finals and finished on fourth missing the medal just by a whisker as she amazed the entire nation with her unbelievable performance.

Meanwhile Jitu Rai, despite having a disappointing Rio Olympics as he performed below par to his expectations, have made the country proud with his performances in other events as he had clinched gold in Asian games, Commonwealth games and also won a gold in ISSF World Cup over the last few years.

Cricketer Ajinkya Rahane is nominated by BCCI for prestigious Arjuna award and will be receiving the award for his immeasurable contributions to Indian cricket over the past few years.
