Sixty-eight Russian track and field athletes will be banned from the Rio Olympics after their appeal was rejected.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport has reinstated a ban imposed by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) which came after repeated allegations of mass doping and state sponsored cover ups.
The rule means the entire Russian Contingent will be banned from participating from Rio Olympic 2016. But it is not learnt how the clean athlete will participate in the upcoming Olympic.
The Russian Athletics Federations said it had done everything it could to ensure his team competed at Rio and a Kremlin spokesman said it was looking at the possibility of a meeting between President Putin and Russian athletes.
The Sports Minister of Russia, Vitaly Mutko, ha said he will consider what steps to take following the decision, adding that things can’t be left as they are.
