Delhi Dreams beat Punjab Marshalls by 25-19 points in the opening match of inaugural Champions League Tennis at RK Khanna tennis stadium at New Delhi last night. In this tournament there six teams from different parts of the country. From the North Zone there is Delhi Dreams, Punjab Marshalls and Mumbai Tennis Masters. The South Zone will be represented by Bangalore Raptors, Hyderabad Aces, Pune Marathas. Each team will have 4 players with some top international players, Indian stars like Leander Paes, Somdev Devvarman and one junior player in each team. The tournament will be played under points system. The tournament will played between 17 November to 26 November 

In the first match of day Juan Carlos Ferrero faced Greg Rusedski. Juan Carols Ferrero opened the account with 6-1 victory over Rusedski. The first set saw a dominating performance by Spanish player who did a great job. He did not allow Rusedski to settle and scored continuously. Carlos Ferrero had to make little efforts to win over Rusedski.  

The second match of tournament was a mixed double match between Kevin Anderson/ Jelena Janovkic playing with Leander and Gabrine Muguruza. It was a good play by the Indian veteran at the net. Leander used his experience and broke the service of the opponents in the fourth game. His team won the match by 6-3 which gave the confidence of coming back in the match to the Punjab team

The third match was women’s singles with Jankovic playing with Muguruza. It was tough match for both of them as both fought for each point but Jankovic won the match by 6-5.

The fourth match was men’s doubles as Sanam Singh and Anderson played with Leander and Devvarman. It was good match for Punjab Marshalls team as Devvarman and Leander was trailing at one time 2-4 but they fought back levelled at 4 all and ultimately won the match 6-4.

The final match saw Anderson facing Somdev Devvarman. Anderson proved too strong for Somdev as his placement and backhand shots were too hot to handle for Somdev. Anderson won the match 6-1 easily

In the second match of day Bangalore Raptors will face Hyderabad Aces. The winner of North Zone will face the winner of South Zone.

The CTL is an excellent opportunity for the Indian youngsters to showcase their talent or by staying in the dugout with experienced players from India and around the World.
