Roger Federer after his defeat against Novak Djokovic said that the Serbian can win more majors if he stays healthy.
Novak Djokovic after his victory against Roger Federer claimed his 10th major. The Serb ended his successful run in grand slam events by winning Australian Open, Wimbledon and US Open. However, he missed to conquer Roland Garros which is eluding him in his illustrious career. By failing to win French Open Djokovic also missed the golden opportunity of winning a calendar slam.
“Clearly he can win many of them,” said Federer after their match at Flushing Meadows. “He already has a ton, so obviously he’s got to stay healthy and all that stuff and hungry, but obviously you would think he will win more after tonight.”
The latest talking point among Tennis fans and experts is the Sneak Attack By Roger (SABR). Roger started to employ this tactic in Cincinnati against Djokovic in the finals and was pretty successful as well. When the opponent tosses the ball up for the second serve Federer charges up to the service line and try to take the ball on the half volley and approaches the net. Although it is slammed by Djokovic’s coach Boris Becker, Federer says he will continue to do it in the future.
“I think it worked very well, and I’m sure I will use it more in the future against [Djokovic] and many others,” Federer said. “It was a really interesting last few months or so looking at that tactic. If you look at the points you probably have to win, you have to play them perfectly. So could have won even more so. Who knows? Maybe I should have played even more of it. I did get many more looks on the second serve as the match went on.”
