Rafael Nadal is all set to make his debut at the ATP 500 event in Hamburg. The last time when the Spaniard featured in that tournament it was an ATP 1000 series and Nadal returns to Hamburg after a gap of 7 years.
The Spaniard has been training vigorously under the suns of Manacor since last week. Speaking to media Nadal said “I hope to play Hamburg will help me to improve my level.” said the Spaniard, who insists:“The long-term goal for this season is to qualify for the ATP Finals, but at the same time I fixed no large goals, so I do not feel anxious to achieve them. I hope to be competitive.”
It will help Rafa to play the German tournament on clay and then have a week of training on hard in view of Montreal? “Well, we’ll see after the US Open if it was a good choice or not, but I am convinced that either way will not make big difference.” said Nadal, who likely will debut in Hamburg on Wednesday.
The goal for the Spaniard at the moment is to qualify for the ATP world tour finals and the rest half of the season would be helpful for Nadal as he has no points to defend.
One can hope the Spaniard gets his confidence back and return to where he belongs:
