The quest for calendar slam is on for the American Serena Williams after winning her sixth Wimbledon title weeks back. With US Open around the corner which takes place in her home turf Serena has a fantastic opportunity to join the elite list of calendar slam holders.

Serena had a positive start to the 2015 season by winning the Australian open beating Maria Sharapova, followed by the French Open triumph against Lucie Safarova. She then added her sixth Wimbledon title to her name by defeating the Spaniard Gabrine Muguruza. Serena has lost just one match in the 2015 season so far and has a winning percentage of 97.56. The only loss came in a WTA event.

The 33 year old doesn’t seem to tire anytime soon and looks as the firm favourite to reign in New York once again. By winning the US Open Serena will add another record to her lustrous career by equalling Steffi Graff’s tally of 22 grand slams. Earlier this year in Australian open she surpassed Martina Navratilova tally of 18. If the American managed to emerge victorious once again in the US Open, which at the moment looks very likely she will be left with just 2 grand slams to go past the all time record of 24 grand slams set by Margaret Court.


Other players who have achieved the calendar slam include, Rod Laver, Don Budge, Maureen Connolly, Margaret Court and Steffi Graff.

Serena Williams has been in top form in the 2015 seasons and she has emerged victorious for the past three years at the US Open and will be chasing her 4th consecutive title at her home turf
