Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza along with her Swiss partner won the second round women’s double match against Italian pair of Sara Errani and Flavia Pennetta by 1-6, 6-4 and 10-6 at the china open tournament in Beijing a few hours ago today. They progressed through to the China Open quarterfinals.

Sania Mirza and her Swiss partner Martina Hingis continued their sublime form but lost they first set at 1-6 as Italian pair were aggressive and mixed good service and powerful shots. The top-seeded Indo-Swiss pair returned brilliantly to claim the second set at the score of 6-4. The decider set was a battle of nerves in which Sania and Hingis pull through a brilliant 10-6 win.  This second round contest was challenging and lasted an hour and 16 minutes.

Mirza and Hingis, who had recently lifted the women’s doubles title at Wuhan Open, will next face Julia Goerges (Germany) and Karolina Pliskova (CZE).
