3. Steffi Graf and Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario:

On the surface, you might not think that this series was much of a rivalry since it was so one-sided in Steffi’s favor. But if you look at the actual data, 25 of their 36 matches (69.4%) were in the finals of an event with another seven (of the remaining 11, or 63.6%) occurring in the semi-finals. In Steffi’s head-to-head with Arantxa, she played best on carpet, winning all four finals in which she faced her. Arantxa did win three clay titles over Steffi (1989 French Open, 1993 & 1994 Hamburg) and she also prevailed on three hard court titles as well (1993 Miami, 1994 Montreal and the U.S. Open that year).

2. Serena Williams vs Venus Williams:

It’s always a pleasure to watch the Williams sisters taking on each other on a Tennis court. They bring energy, aggression and competitiveness to the court. In their 26 meetings Serena has got the better of the elder sister Venus. Earlier in the 2000’s Venus was very competitive and the rivalry was more intense compared to these few years. In early 2000’s Venus managed to dominate Serena to the fullest whereas in later years Venus failed to manage that high level and it was Serena who was in top of her game. However in most of the tight clashes between them Serena managed to emerge victorious.

1. Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert:

This is the best rivalry ever in Women’s Tennis history. These two has faced each other for record 59 times and Martina lead the head to head tally with 37 wins to Evert’s 22. The rivalry between these two lasted for 13 years which is very hard to witness in the modern era of Tennis. In 1979, these two constituted in an epic final clash which took place at Eastbourne and Chris Evert emerged victorious in that contest defeating Martina 7-5, 5-7, 13-11. The Intensity which these two brings on the court during their clash is absolutely matchless and it’s hard for this current generation to constitute a rivalry like that.
