Roger Federer is safely through to the Quarterfinals beating John Isner in straight sets 7-6(0), 7-6(6), 7-5 while Andy Murray suffered a four-set loss against the South African Kevin Anderson.

Roger Federer had a tricky match at hands as he was up against the big-serving American John Isner. Although it was a straight set victory Roger Federer had to grind all the way in the three with the opening two sets going into a tie-breaker. The Swiss lifted his game in the opening set tie-break winning it 7-0 and with that he was the first person to beat Isner 7 points to nil in a tie-breaker.

The same story repeated in the second set as well. However, the second set tiebreak was competitive compared to the first with Roger Federer just edging out Isner. In the third set Federer failed to close out the match very earlier facing three break points in the 8th game but never the less the Swiss managed to break Isner’s serve in the 13th game and booked his place in the Quarter-Finals.

Federer is all set to face the Frenchman Richard Gasquet in the Quarterfinals which promises to be a close contest for Tennis viewers.

The biggest upset came earlier in the day as Kevin Anderson took down the Brit in four sets defeating him 7-6(5), 6-3, 6-7(2), 7-6(0).

After a grueling first set which Anderson won was unstoppable even in the second set as he took the opening two sets 7-6, 6-3 putting the pressure on the Brit. However, Murray responded well in the third set winning it 7-6. While the match seemed to be turning on its head after the third set Anderson didn’t lose patience and maintained the same intensity which saw him winning the fourth upset and causing the major upset in the fourth round.

Anderson was heavily impressive with his serving as he fired down 25 aces and maintained a decent first serve percentage of 64%. However, Murray’s serving was below par by his standards as he maintained just 59% of the first serve. Anderson was dictating play with his powerful groundstrokes hitting 81 winners while the later managed to hit just 49. Although, the South African made 57 unforced errors with the aggressive game he was playing it was bound to happen.

After all these years, Anderson has made an appearance post fourth round and this will be his first quarterfinal appearance in a grand slam. The South African is slated to face the 2015 French Open champion Stanislas Wawrinka in the quarterfinals which should be a cracker of a contest.
