Both teams looking for their first win and this time it is the home team that opens their tally in IPL 2016 with 8 wickets win as they had a mere total of 112 to chase down in 20 overs. They needed just 13.3 overs to get to the target of 112. The bowling of Daredevils was led by Mishra who picked up 4 wickets. Though the target was small, still someone had to bat well to get past the score and this time, it was de Kock who took responsibility as he scored a half-century and made sure Daredevils get past the score, not to forget that chances that were missed by Kings XI Punjab on two occasions to get him out.
Delhi Daredevils bowling attack, especially Amit Mishra was is full form today and the hard-hitting top order of Kings XI Punjab had no answer for his leg-spin. This was also his 100th match and he has made it very memorable by getting few records to his name.
Let us take a look at some of the records (some good some not so good) that were made in this match –
Running Issues – Murali Vijay has now been run-out 12 times in IPL. The most by any player in IPL. Following him are Gautam Gambhir and Venugopal Rao with 11 run-outs each.
Missing It – While we yesterday mentioned that Dinesh Karthik and MS Dhoni have affected most stumpings as wicket-keepers, it is Amit Mishra as a bowler who has got batsmen out as stumping most number of times in IPL. He has 19 wickets as stumpings, fouling him is Harbhajan Singh with 14 wickets.
Leg Before Wicket – Not just stumping, Amit Mishra also has the most number of wickets in IPL as LBWs too. Amit Mishra is joint leader with Piyush Chawla, both of them have 12 LBWs in IPL. Lasith Malinga with 10 LBWs in IPL is second in the list.
Century for a bowler – Amit Mishra today played his 100th IPL match. Suresh Raina has played most number of matches in IPL so far. He has played 134 matches.
